Over Thanksgiving weekend Kevin and I visited some caves in the Mojave desert with members of the Southern California Grotto. We had an amazing trip trying to get dirty but keep the cameras clean. The first cave in the video really demonstrates how people thoughtlessly destroy these beautiful underground places.
I was testing out a piece of camera equipment at Stoney Point and came across a fellow named Owen doing some… interesting looking rappelling. He was kind enough to let me film his insanity, as well as showing me some basic routes up the cliff.
Here’s what I ended up with.

An adventure film mixed with a cautionary tale of exhaustion in Panamint City. Filmed by David Angel and narrated by Ken Fessia and Robert Keith; this film was shot in September of 2010 but not edited until the Mohave: Dark Descent and Crystal Cave Sequoia – Restoration 2010 projects had been completed.

Kevin, Michael, and I drove to Sequoia National Park to help with the yearly restoration of Crystal Cave. I ended up running video about about half the time and helping with restoration the other half. Both jobs were hard work and it was tough to get warm in the Sierras in November.
One of the highlights of our trip was taking two off trail trips during our time there. I was able to see the Phosphorescent Room, and Solstice Lake.
